We wave our magic wand to ensure that your Fairytale has a happy ending too!
“Let me begin by briefly telling you all a bit about what Welfare does and our involvement with the project. We aim, as most committees do, to be an active part of serving our community. Our concept for our term in office is “SMILE” – Serve Many Individuals, Little and Elderly. The Cinderella’s Wardrobe initiative entirely captures what it really means to make people smile.” Says Megan Thomas
Chairperson Welfare Committee Johannesburg Junior Council. This was a part of the speech delivered at the launch of Cinderella Wardrobe on Monday the 1st of August 2011. “We at Bride&co and Eurosuit share this vision, as the matric learners prepare for their final exams and future lives, one special day filled with great anticipation awaits them,” says Julian Grabman (Project Manager).
The concept is to have a “Cinderella’s Wardrobe” rail in the Factory Outlet Store, where Bride&co will administer and facilitate dresses or suits on behalf of the Johannesburg Junior Council. Matrics who can’t afford an outfit for their Matric Dance, will be taken care of by The Bride&co Guardian Angel (Angel Mbatha) and be directed to the Bride&co Factory Outlet Store where they can select a dress/suit for their Big Night! They will pay a necessary deposit of R200, which will be returned on the garment’s return.
The process of finding the deserving matric students is as follows: The Junior Council will find beneficiaries who we feel are deserving of the help. They will have to fill in a motivation form and we will decide whom we feel will appreciate the dress/suit the most and who deserves, based on their merit, the dress or suit. Bride&co and Eurosuit will keep stock of the garments and have some of their merchandise in the store. The public will also be urged to, after their dances and when they no longer have a need for their garments, donate them to our cause. This concept is not a “once off”, so to speak, but rather an ongoing project that we hope will be passed on to each new Welfare committee annually.
This project is both Bride&co and Eurosuit’s contribution to the social responsibility and corporate community investment. For years, Bride&co and Eurosuit have worked with the Junior Council with events such as the Youth Ball and Mr and Mrs Joburg. They have always been very supportive of our council and we are all very excited to be working with them again on this fantastic initiative.
